After finishing death of a chimney sweep i had resolved not to read any further entries in the series i broke down and purchased death of a kingfisher hoping for a glimpse of the old macbeth but am once again disappointed id be better off just re reading the early books. Death of a kingfisher is a mystery involving the deaths of 2 individuals in the same village one is a cranky old woman whose family stands to get a lot of money when she dies however there is a problem with the will. Death of a kingfisher hamish macbeth mysteries book 27 the trouble is that hamish is too good at his job in death of a kingfisher is almost fooled by a pretty face and by two children almost as the bodies drop in ones and twos hamish must solve the crimes all the while maintaining his lowly status . Death of a kingfisher is another delightful romp with hamish macbeth these characters are as familiar as my nextdoor neighbors and often more friendly a well thought out mystery that holds ones interest to the last page i highly recommend it to lovers of hamish. The murder of a kingfisher his mate and their nestlings is merely the opening salvo in a barrage of events perhaps aimed at ruining the fairy glen macbeths nemesis detective chief inspector blair adds to his woes
